Van Genechten grows!

This article submitted by J. Boks on 11/26.

VAN GENECHTEN is an internationally operating group with two divisions - cardboard packaging and playing cards (Carta Mundi). The cardboard packaging division accounts for more than 90% of the turnover, and has enjoyed growth of 20% per year over the last ten years. This division, with 135,000 tons of cardboard processed per year at six factories, takes third place on a European scale with two factories in Belgium (Turnhout and Brussels), three factories in France (Lille, Lyon and Angoulême) and one factory in the Netherlands (Eindhoven). Technologically the plants are extremely well equipped and balanced, while disposing of highly qualified and trained personnel. On 24 November 1997 VAN GENECHTEN took 66,5 % interest in the 4 P folding box division of the group Royal Packaging Industries N.V. Van Leer. With this take-over the Van Genechten group becomes an Europe's market leader, with 215,000 tons of cardboard used in folding boxes and playing cards per year. The additional establishments are located in Germany (Cologne and Kempten), France (Beauvais, near Paris) and Poland (Chelmek near Krakov). The Van Genechten folding box division is now, more than ever, the ideal partner for both national and European clients throughout the whole of Europe. The mutual integration of the various companies shortly before the introduction of the Euro will be taking place an excellent time, and will offer the clientele various scale and cultural advantages. By means of innovations though R&D, communication, logistics and packaging systems, the VAN GENECHTEN group wishes to make a positive contribution to benefit consumer packaging in cardboard.
