PRESENTATION INTEC-CHILE is a non-profit-making, private law corporation. In 1996 INTEC-CHILE defined its mission as “Managing of technological projects of high impact and improving the capacities for technology management in the productive and services sector” in order to strengthen its international competitiveness. It has concentrated its activities in three divisions: Environmental Technologies, Productive Processes and Chemical Laboratories. INTEC-CHILE acts through three strategic approaches: 1. Listening to its customers in order to satisfy needs. 2. Promoting continuous improvement of its personnel, partners and customers. 3. Stimulating associations and strategic alliances with entrepreneurs, Chilean and foreign universities, experts, public and private institutions and organizations, in areas of mutual interest Its action is oriented towards Technology Transfer through the following processes: Technological antenna, detecting, evaluating, difussing and adapting technology to industry needs Technology management of projects with high impact Technology training and education for entrepreneurs and consultants STAFF Executive Director:Mrs. Sally Bendersky Packaging Projects Manager:Ms. Loreto Sotomayor, Environmental Division HISTORY Foundation: INTEC-CHILE was created by the Chilean Economic Development Agency, CORFO in 1968. The Packaging Unit initiated activities as a CORFO Program in 1979. It was integrated with the Environmental Technologies Division in October 1995. Over the years research and development activities were maintained alongside with the gradual incorporation of new lines of work. Environmental issues were incorporated first, followed by the search for and learning of new tools for information technologies productivity and organizational management. As these new areas of work were integrated, our research activities diminished, giving way to technology adaptation and application projects. Main connection: The institution favours strategic alliances with Chilean and foreign universities, institutions and private organizations in order to constitute an attractive offer to its customers. It also stimulates associations of potential and current customers in order to successfully introduce technological changes through networked partnering projects. FINANCE Financing is obtained basically from three sources: 1. sale of projects to sectors outside INTEC-CHILE, both public and private; national and international 2. the presentation of projects to funding organizations that award finance on a competition basis, such organizations being state-created to encourage development, productivity and technology transfer to industrial sectors; 3. sale of technological services to other projects of INTEC-CHILE and outside (tests and measurements, analysis, certification, etc.) SERVICES Testing: Sampling and analysis of air, water and soil pollutants; evaluation of environmental impacts. Chemical analysis services, materials and packaging testing. Training: The institution regularly offers training services through events such as courses, seminars, meetings and workshops to the manufacturing and service sectors in order to update knowledge of technological opportunities and analyses of future trends in new developments and technologies. Information and Consultancy: Environmental management; Packing and Packaging. TQM and quality assurance procedures (ISO 9000 and ISO 14001) specially in small and medium size companies. Process technologies (including information technologies and electronic). Chemical laboratories (assistance for companies to implement and operate their labs and the introduction of quality assurance);Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, HACCP; Metrology lab. RESEARCH AND DEVOLOPMENT The order of priority in R&D activities of INTEC-CHILE is: 1. transfer of technology; 2. adaptation of technology; 3. the creation of technology with more emphasis on development than on basic research.
